the political cycle

With the re-relocation now complete, I’m going to try and get the categories and such fixed up over the weekend, ready to deal with more non-WA posts. A couple of posts to remind you that we’re not dead, and if you’re trying to find a positive from the Liberal Party taking office in WA, well, the prominence of H+M favourites Rob Johnson and Grant Woodhams should give us some good material! Surely it’s time for the daylight savings debate to return too…

Mr SPEAKER: Honourable members, I wish to provide a progress report on parliamentary staff member Stephen Finnimore. He departed on his Brisbane to Cairns charity bike ride last Friday, as we know. Stephen’s 1,737-kilometre journey is raising funds and awareness for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Queensland section. […] I have instructed the parliamentary attendants to circulate the Royal Flying Doctor Service collection tins in the chamber now. I again remind members to give generously—to give cash, a cheque or an IOU. We are very keen to make sure that this is a maximum donation from the 89 members.

Mr Schwarten: I’ll see him on Saturday in Rocky.

Mr SPEAKER: Excellent. The Leader of the House will be seeing Stephen in Rockhampton, and that is great to hear. He will be staying two days in the Rockhampton area.

Mr Rickuss: Are you riding your bike?

Mr Schwarten: Yes, I’m going to ride.

Mr Johnson: You can’t ride a bike. Have you got training wheels on your bike?

Mr Schwarten: You need them on your brain!

Mr SPEAKER: Order, honourable members. I know we are all interested in cycling. So let us do
the very best to support Stephen in the House today.
